At EAPC PLC, our meticulous process - from limestone mining to the final product - ensures unmatched quality. Every step is designed for precision, delivering cement that meets the highest standards and exceeds customer expectations.

  • Advanced, low-impact mining
  • 1,450 °C rotary-kiln clinkering
  • KEBS-accredited on-site lab
  • Nationwide distribution network
  1. Step 01

Limestone Mining at Kibini, Kunkur & Bissil-Mulage

Our process begins at our quarries where high-quality limestone is extracted.

    • Mining Operations: Advanced techniques ensure efficient extraction while minimising environmental impact.
    • Primary Crushing: A jaw crusher reduces the mined limestone into smaller, manageable sizes for downstream processing.
  2. Step 02

    Transportation to the Factory

Road Transportation: The crushed limestone is transported by road from the mining sites to our Athi River factory, where the production process continues.

  3. Step 03

Secondary Crushing & Raw Material Preparation

Upon arrival at the factory, the limestone is prepared for milling.

    • Secondary Crushing: Further crushing brings the limestone to the desired size for milling.
    • Raw Meal Preparation in the ATOX Mill: The crushed limestone is ground with clay and iron ore into a fine powder known as raw meal.
  4. Step 04

    Raw Meal Transport & Preheating

The raw meal is conveyed to the preheater tower to reduce kiln energy demand.

    • Pneumatic Conveyor Transport: Finely ground raw meal moves to the preheater tower.
    • Preheating: Exhaust gases from the kiln preheat the raw meal, cutting the energy required for clinkerization.
  5. Step 05

    Clinker Production in the Kiln

Calcination and Clinkerization: The preheated raw meal enters the kiln and is heated up to 1,450 °C, transforming into clinker - the primary component of cement.

  6. Step 06

    Clinker Cooling & Transport

The freshly formed clinker is rapidly cooled and moved to milling.

    • Clinker Cooling: Rapid cooling preserves the clinker's chemical properties.
    • Pan Conveyor Transport: Cooled clinker is carried by pan conveyors to the milling section.
  7. Step 07

    Cement Grinding & Blending

Clinker is milled and blended to achieve the finished cement recipe.

    • Milling Section: Clinker is inter-ground with fine Kunkur, pozzolana and gypsum to achieve the desired cement composition.
    • Quality Control: Stringent checks at every stage ensure the cement meets the highest industry standards.
  8. Step 08

    Cement Storage & Packaging

Finished cement is stored and packed ready for market.

    • Cement Storage in Silos: Finely ground cement is held in large silos for packaging and dispatch.
    • Packaging: Cement is packed into 50 kg bags or loaded in bulk, based on customer requirements.
  9. Step 09

    Distribution to Clients

Distribution: Packaged cement is delivered to our network of distributors and other clients, ensuring timely delivery and customer satisfaction across East Africa.
