Company History
Nine decades of pioneering cement manufacture in East and Central Africa.
Established in 1933, East African Portland Cement PLC is the first cement manufacturer in East and Central Africa. What began as a modest 60,000-tonne operation has grown into a 1.3-million-tonne-per-year national asset - quietly holding life together for generations of Kenyans.

EAPC PLC is Registered
The first cement manufacturer in East and Central Africa. Capacity of 60,000 tonnes per year with one mill.

- •1934
Cement Deliveries Begin
First cement deliveries roll out to customers.

- •1954
Athi River Factory Construction
Construction of the Athi River factory begins.

- •1957
Factory Complete
Athi River Factory completed. Two mills added, bringing total to four. Capacity doubles to 120,000 tonnes a year.

- •1974
New Rotary Wet Kiln
A new rotary wet kiln is commissioned. Capacity rises to 300,000 tonnes a year.

- •1979
Fourth Mill Added
Fourth mill added, mill number three upgraded. Capacity rises to 340,000 tonnes.
- •1996
Brand-new Kiln Commissioned
New mill, bigger limestone crusher, state-of-the-art pre-blending system. Capacity doubles to 600,000 tonnes.

Dry-process Manufacturing
Company transitions from wet process to dry process cement manufacturing.
- •2009
New Mill · 1.3M Tonnes
New mill commissioned - capacity doubles to 1.3 million tonnes. EAPC acquires ISO 9001:2008 certification.

ERP Automation
EAPC implements an ERP system automating all business processes.
- •2016
ISO 9001:2015 & 14001:2015
Certification to the revised quality and environmental management standards.
- •2025
Recertification & Renewal
Successful ISO 9001:2015 recertification audit by KEBS, extending certification to 2028.
