MD’s New Year Message (2007)

Now that the year 2007 has begun, it is important to note that the year comes with a lot of challenges and we must be prepared to deal with them.  Our mission for this year is to deal with the following:
 
Cost Management
Our costs have continued to rise, eating into our profits. This year I would like all our employees to embark on a cost management mission by identifying measures to reduce waste and cost of doing business. Key cost areas include energy, staff, procurement of raw materials and spares, cement distribution etc. 

Efficiency Enhancement
There are areas in our operations where efficiency need to be enhanced. These areas include proper planning, timely decision making, implementation of decisions, document processing, information availability, time management, performance measurement, training and transfer of knowledge etc.

Growth/Market Share
The cement market in the region has continued to grow and expand in the past five years. This year we must think growth in all areas of our operations.

Teamwork
We must be one team, speaking one language, going one direction with one purpose and one interest. Together we can make progress but divided we will fall.
Individual employees whose proposals will be adopted on the above four issues will be recognised. May we all have a great year ahead.
