SHAREHOLDERS GET A PIECE OF THE ACTION!!!

East African Portland Cement Company Shareholders got a taste of just what cement manufacturing is all about on Friday 26th February 2010. The Company had organized for a Shareholders visit that would see its Shareholders take a tour of the Plant in Athi River and see for themselves what cement “ really is”.

The site tour was preceded by a short meeting where the EAPCC Managing Director, Eng, John Nyambok had this to say “ We here at EAPCC are tasked with ensuring that we deliver outstanding performance and superior returns to you our valued shareholders” The MD thanked the Shareholders for taking the time away from their busy schedules to join us. He said that this turn up goes a long way in boosting the employees morale as it identifies them as a key part of cement manufacture.
EAPCC Chairman of the Board, Mark ole Karbolo expressed his thanks to the EAPCC Shareholders for the continuing confidence that they had shown to the Board of Directors and indeed the Management and Staff of the Company. He said that the Board had set various strategic moves into place to ensure that EAPCC continues to grow its market share not only in Kenya but in the greater East African region as a whole.

Safety Induction
The Safety Health and Environment (SHE) Manager, Jane Kaguathi informed the Shareholders of the various Safety measures that were underway at EAPCC and that the Safety, Health and Environment Department strives to ensure that the employees of the Company are always safe in the areas within which they work in. The Factory Tour
The shareholders together with the Chairman and Managing Director of East African Portland Cement were taken to see the different stages that are involved during the processing and production of the cement.
After the factory tour the shareholders were served with a hearty meal which was well catered for and prepared by the Safari Park Hotel-outside caterers.
Shareholders who had gone for the factory tour renewed their energy by diving into the different meals that had been prepared by the caterers.
The Chairman invited a few shareholders to comment on anything they felt regarding the company. Those who came forward were grateful to EAPCC for all the work they had done to prepare for the day and promised to continue to support the company in all its undertakings.
There was a vote of thanks made by the Head of Productions Manager, Mr. Kananga who thanked the Chairman and the Managing Director of EAPCC for being present during such an important function. He further added that “cement manufacturers are always at loggerheads with the farmers because; farmers need rain to ensure their crops grow, while as cement manufacturers, cement is difficult to process and produce because the rain makes it hard for the machines  to breakdown the dust particles because they will require more power and energy to do so.”
A shareholder ended with a word of prayer which marked the ending of the meeting.
Each of the shareholders received a hamper that was specially packed for them by the Cooperate Affairs department.
